UNHCR was created in 1950 to help millions of Europeans who had fled or lost their homes. Now, the UNHCR is programmed with the mandate to protect refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people, and assist in their voluntary repatriation, local integration or resettlement to a third country. During refugee crises, UNHCR rushes in humanitarian aid and its expert staff, leading efforts to save lives and relieve suffering.
Topic – “The Rights to Work for Refugees”
Press Corps consists of journalists from various news agencies that are prominent around the world, namely; CNN, Fox News, Russian Today, New York Times, and many more prominent news agency that participants will be assigned as if they join the Press Corps. The journalists will play crucial role as medias that will shape public opinion towards the work of the UN. In GOLDMUN 2019, journalists will be able to develop their writing skills in journalism, and also be creative on capturing moments of the meeting sessions through their lenses.
UNEP is the leading environmental authority in the UN system. UNEP uses its expertise to strengthen environmental standards and practices while helping implement environmental obligations at the country, regional and global levels. UNEP’s mission is to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations.
Topic – “Corporate Responsibility over Toxic and Hazardous Waste”
UNESCO seeks to build peace through international cooperation in Education, the Sciences and Culture. UNESCO develops educational tools to help people live as global citizens free of hate and intolerance. UNESCO works so that each child and citizen has access to quality education. UNESCO fosters scientific programmes and policies as platforms for development and cooperation. UNESCO stands up for freedom of expression, as a fundamental right and a key condition for democracy and development.

WHO is a specialized agency of the United Nations that is concerned with international public health. Under WHO with their constitution, health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. The enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health is one of the fundamental rights of every human being without distinction of race, religion, political belief, economic or social condition.
Topic – “Addressing the Possible Cure and Medication of HIV/AIDS”
UN Women is the UN entity dedicated to gender equality and the empowerment of women. Gender inequality is pervasive, with women lacking access to decent employment and facing gender wage gaps. A global champion for women and girls, UN Women was established to accelerate progress on meeting their needs worldwide. In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact.
